The Final Blog (English Final)

The future is where we all strive to be, for if we did not we would no longer exist. When I graduate college many things will have influenced my way of life, and many more experiences will have helped me learn. College is a time to get the academic success we strive for during our years in High School. But during college we can also learn a lot more than simply what we may read in a book.
The biggest thing I expect to have learned in college is the content within the classes I have taken. The reason we go to college is to get the book knowledge that will help us in our professional lives. To say that I came to college but didn’t learn what I intended would be a waste of money and, most importantly, time. I plan to be a surgeon, and after four years of college I will have at least four more; I would just be getting started with my schooling. So four years from now I also need to have more than just the book smarts.
When I picture myself in the future, I see a man that has learned from his mistakes. I try not to make many mistakes, but when I do I make the necessary changes to not fall into the same trap twice. So the next most important thing I plan to learn in college is to learn from my blunders. I want my experience during these years to be fun and full of memories that will be with me the rest of my life. This includes the experiences that I necessarily don’t want to happen again. Not learning from my mistakes could possibly be the biggest flaw that I could possibly stumble upon.
Learning the actual content and becoming a better person through experience are what I expect to get from my first four years at school. With these I can go into the rest of my life prepared for anything the future may hold. After leaving this class I have already successfully acquired parts of both the puzzle pieces that will help live an accomplished life.

The things I learned..

I have learned many things throughout this semester that will help me during my entire college career and even my life. Here is a list of ten of the things I learned:
1. I learned how to find the area of a Donut in Calculus. This is something that will have no part in my life, but the fact that I learned how to do it is an accomplishment.
2. In Composition I learned the list of the 20 most common errors made by college students. Knowing those mistakes will help me to avoid making them in the future.
3. I learned how to play volleyball by going to a few of the Women’s volleyball games. This sport is something that I will attend regularly next semester.
4. I learned how to find the molecular weight of molecules in chemistry. Since I am a biology major this will come in handy, especially in Chem. 2.
5. One of the most important things I learned is how to manage my time. Many reasons students don’t do well in college is because they have not learned how to do this. Now that I can, college life will go by much easier.
6. I also learned how to study for the tests I had. It was not an easy thing…but once I learned the tests seemed easier to me.
7. I learned how to do a blog. This may or may not come in handy, but it is always a good skill to have.
8. I learned how to make a club for the school. A couple of friends and I made a bobsledding club team. We are the first one in the nation, therefore are automatic national champions.
9. I learned how to do labs in biology. Before the class I had no idea what any of the tools were.
10. And lastly, I learned what it takes to be a college student. It is not as easy as I thought, but in the end it is worth it to get the education.

Biology for Good

After this semester I am still steadfast in my decision to be a biology major. The classes I have taken have simply reinforced my interest in being an orthopedic surgeon. I have always had an interest in biology because I have wanted to be a doctor since I was a kid. This semester has done nothing to deter me from wanting to succeed in the medical field. If I ever do change my major, I won’t have to worry about taking any science classes in the future. This semester I have taken many hard classes such as Chemistry, Calculus, and Biology, but Every time I go to class it entices me to want to learn more about the subject at hand. The only thing I would change would be the fact that I had to take calculus. It is not my strongest subject and is the hardest class I have taken yet. But overall, I started a biology major, and that’s exactly how I intend to stay.

Ronaldinho Call up

Ronaldinho was a special part of the Brazilian soccer team before early 2009. Then disaster struck; he found the party life to be more important than his professional career as an athlete. After only a few months he was dropped from a starting position and eventually sold to another team who still saw the potential in him. It has been over a year since his fall from fame, but he has finally earned a call up to the Brazilian national team. This will be the first time since early 2009 and I look forward to seeing him play again after so long. He used to be my idol for his beautiful style of play but after his drop into the party life I began rethink that. But now since he has earned his place among the elite once again, maybe he can win the hearts of a few more young fans, just as he earned mine. Joga Bonito (Play beautiful)

My Food FYE

My FYE class is about Food and biology. In this class, we read a book called the Omnivore's Dilemma. This book is about how almost everything we eat is either made with corn or has corn somewhere in its production. Also, it talks about the importance of grass to keep food natural. The main point of this book is to explain how the industrialized food market may be the cheapest and most efficient way to produce food, but it is not the best way to get the most nutrition out of your food. Most of the class we sit in groups and talk about what we read in the book the night before, but sometimes we do some sort activity to keep things interesting. We have talked about how to work in groups, talk to our professors, and how to set up our schedules along with the food in biology. This class is an interesting other side compared to what i am used to,. but in the end i am still going to eat the meat that I can afford.

Google Me

I have many methods of finding the information that I need for my college assignments. However, one of the most prominent choices is the use of Google advanced search. This is a very helpful tool when it comes to research and inquiry because you do not just get anything that has to do with the subject, but you can also narrow down your search. This allows for me to have more control over the articles and websites that I will be lead to. I can find pages that only have words that I specifically want in the information I will find. Just using regular Google is helpful, but the use of advanced search allows for me to have more time actually doing the assignment rather than searching through useless articles that only seem to have to do with my subject. So the use of Google allows me to do my assignments in a timely manner as well as giving me more time to work on the quality.

Getting help to Help Myself

Out of all the outcomes, I have the most difficulty with developing flexible strategies for revising and proof-reading. This may be the simplest part of writing for others in the class, but to me it is something that I do not think of doing enough. I always proof-read my papers but I do not have any creative ways to help catch my simple mistakes. When I read my paper over again I do not catch the mistakes because I change it around in my mind to make it seem right. A good way for me to fix this is to probably read it backwards. If I do this I would be able to catch more typos and be able to turn in a better revised paper. I can also get a colleague to help me check for errors throughout my papers, but I cannot always depend on other people. I need to learn how to find my own mistakes so that I do not have to get others to read my papers constantly.

My Fighting Secrets

Arguing is a part of our everyday life. Many people think arguing a simple yelling at somebody, but it is much more than that; it is an art. I personally have a certain way that I prefer to handle it. They can range from be very calm disagreement to heated yelling contests. When I personally get into an argument the first thing I do is to get the other person to calm down. I do not get mad easily at all, so I am very composed when I disagree with another person. I do not like to get angry because it shows weakness in controlling one's self, therefore I keep a calm mindset and let the other person make things go out of control. I react the way I do because I expect others will do the same for me. Sometimes arguing is necessary so to fight fair is the logical way to handle it.

Soccer Fever

If there is no soccer in heaven, I'm not going! Soccer plays a huge part in my life, more than anyone could imagine. It is a very athletic sport but it is the passion of the game that has me hooked! Watching the world cup and feeling the atmosphere of the nations battling for the title of world champions had me mesmerized from the first game till the last. I live for the game of soccer.

When I was young I was handed a soccer ball for the very first time. I did not know what to do with it, but overtime it became my best friend. I would bring it everywhere I went and I would use it whenever boredom struck. Having the ability to start playing at such a young age of three allowed my passion for the game to swell within me and give me the ability to love the game. Many people have the ability to play the game with great skill, but it is an oddity to find someone with the passion to go along with it. The players that have the passion to make the game beautiful are the ones that are a pleasure to watch.

Washington Evaluation

I have lived in many places throughout my life, from Florida to Washington state. But one place in particular stands out to me no matter where I tend to find a nesting place. I want to figure out why this place sticks out to me. To do this I will evaluate Bremerton, Washington.
To find out if Washington was the best place for me to live I will use some certain criteria to evaluate the place. The weather is the first subject at hand. I prefer a cold, and sometimes rainy weather area. It also must have a good breeze. Next I will look at the mood of the people. To be the best, the people must be nice and courteous no matter the weather. And lastly, I will evaluate the distance from a city. It must not be a really long drive to get to the city. This means that there must be fun around every corner.
Bremerton, Washington is a small city that is only a short drive to anywhere. it has good weather, including cool breezes, snow in the winter, and a little bit of rain throughout the year. And most of all the people are friendly and it is a close knit community.

Bremerton, Washington has incredible weather according to my preferences. I like it when its cool and when it knows in the winter. The only flaw there is that when it rains, it does not stop. Next the people are really nice and you know all your neighbors. This is a huge plus for me considering this is exactly what I like. Lastly, it is not a long drive to the city at all. it is about 10 minutes from something at the furthest. This short drive is what wraps up the criteria for why I like this city.

Bremerton, Washington is a great city to live in and I recommend it to anybody looking for a nice relaxing place to be with friends and family. It is a close knit community with the best weather you could ask for. I would live there again; give it a try.

Step Brothers Review

Step Brothers is about two men, about in their forties, who still live with their parents. Brennan lives with his divorced mom and Dale lives with his divorced dad. They are both unemployed and are completely reliant on their parents. The parents meet each other and they hit it off immediately and eventually get married. When the brothers meet chaos breaks loose!

This movie will have you wanting more and more all the way till the end. It is extremely funny and unlike many comedies it actually has a plot behind the laughter. The crude jokes and hlarious action keep anyone with a funny bone interested till the last laugh.

The main flaw of this movie is that it lacks the presence of reality. When two adults, both unemployed, meet for the first time they are most likely to be somewhat decent to each other. They will not knock each other out with bicycles or put body parts on the others drums. But besides this minor inaccuracy it it an excellent movie.

Seeing this movie is a must! The one fault is not enough to stop anyone from seeing this movie. Just be warned that this movie is very explicit but well worth it. If you are in a mood for a good laugh no matter how many times you see the movie then you have found the perfect one so look no longer.
